Dank je, Miriyam. Ik ontmoette Darwish vele jaren geleden, in 1997, in Ramallah. Buiten werd gevochten, met stenen naar tanks gegooid. Ik was vooral erg onder de indruk dat al die jonge mensen het interessanter vonden om de grote volksdichter, die het gelukt was om over de Alleby bridge te komen zelf te zien, dan buiten te vechten.
