Al eerder heb ik over het ontruimingsplan van Gaza geschreven, en er een stuk van Uri Avnery over vertaald. Mensen hier willen nog wel eens denken dat het een grote stap voorwaarts is in de verhouding tussen de Israëli’s en de Palestijnen als de kolonisten uit de Gazastrook worden terug getrokken. En sommigen, ik geloof dat minister Bot zich ook in die trant heeft uitgelaten, denken dat daarmee een nieuwe opening is geschapen voor de onderhandelingen, een volgende stap op de ‘Road Map’ naar vrede.
Ik ben daar helemaal niet zo optimistisch over, net zo min als andere mensen die de situatie goed kennen. Lees verder →

Good morning Dear Anja;

I read your message with lots of respect to you and to all who are concerned
with the situation her in Gaza. I appreciate it very much the hard work
that you are doing to change the way of thinking of the western people using
all available tools in your hands. You tried it and lived with the
Palestinians and practiced the arab and muslims rules. I wish that everyone
who does not believe that we are like any other people in the world could
come to Gaza and be our guest.

Lieve Anja,

Dit is wat er gebeurde toen ik met Dalia bezig was plannen te maken voor de verjaardag van Mohammed.

Mijn zoon, Mohammed, wordt op 8 oktober 2004 drie jaar oud. He heeft een nieuwe les geleerd in zijn derde levensjaar, en deze les gaat over de nieuwsberichten. De hele dag staat hier overal de radio aan met berichten over wat er gebeurt in het noorden van Gaza. Mohammed is al een expert in het ontcijferen van alle soorten nieuwsbulletins op het nieuwskanaal van Al Jazeera. Zelfs Mohammed begrijpt heel goed wanneer het over Irak gaat en wanneer over Gaza. Het enige probleem is dat Mohammed een vraag heeft die ik niet kan beantwoorden en dat is wat het verschil is tussen de soldaten in Gaza en de soldaten in Irak. Lees verder →

Dear Anja;

This is what happened when I was planning with Dalia the birthday party of
Mohammed.

My son, Mohammed will be 3 years old on October 8, 2004. He learned a new
lesson for the third year of his life, this lesson is about all kinds of
breaking news. All day long radios are on everywhere talking about what is
going on into northern Gaza. Mohammed became an expert in reading all kinds
of bulletins at Al Jazeera News Channel and could know when it is breaking
news. Even Mohammed knows very well when its Iraq and when its Gaza. The
only problem that Mohammed has a question that I could not answer which is
what is the difference between the soldiers in Gaza and the soldiers in

Here is the breaking news for today:

Last night the Israeli ministry of defence and the Israeli Defence Forces
official speaker announced that the IDF has destroyed a Palestinian Military
Academy in Jabalia. They said that this Academy is for the Palestinian
armed troops where they learn who to attack ennocent Israelis and commit
suicide bombing. The were very successful and congratualte themselves for
the success of destroying this Academy and considered it a military winning.

Dat kan ik me dus aantrekken. Want ik ben van de SP. Ik heb bovendien uitgesproken kritiek op de politiek van de huidige staat Israël, en daarmee val ik volgens Cohen onder de ‘nieuwe antisemieten’.
